Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is caused by cancerous tumours that grow in the testicles. It is not a very common cancer and the American Cancer Society estimates that the USA will receive only 8250 new cases in 2006 with 370 expected deaths.
Testicular cancer is highly treatable with over 90% success rate if detected early. It is recommended for men to perform a testicular cancer self exam regularly to detect any suspicious lumps in the testicles.
Depending on how serious the tumor is, the affected testis may be surgically removed. This will not render the male patient infertile because a man only needs one testis to be fertile. Other conventional cancer treatments methods include radiation and chemotherapy.
