Understanding Cancer
As we speak, cancer is one of the greatest killers of the world. Take all the wars combined that are going right now and the casualties there will only be a fraction compared to the victims of the cancer that paid the ultimate price. In United States alone, over one million people are affected by this disease, according to a study conducted in 2005, with breast cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer being the major culprits. I know that it is simple to think that such a thing will never happen to you, but cancer is an indiscriminate killer and everybody is at risk. The fangs of this disease grow stronger as time passes. The longer the time cancer stays in your body, the more serious the damage. It doesn’t matter where the cancer is located, the faster it is acted upon, the higher the chance that the patient will escape with less harm. Generally speaking the cancer cells are those that stray away and begin duplicating unchecked and they are usually categorized into two families: benign cancers which are nor dangerous but show a disposition for developing more serious forms and malign cancers which are the real killers.
The Dreaded “What If”
Many people refuse to undergo a thorough control because they are afraid that if cancer is indeed discovered they would barely stand a chance and would be burdened by this knowledge. In these cases it’s not the cancer that kills, but ignorance. An early detection of cancer means quite often a complete recovery these days. Cancer does not have to kill. Even in the most ferocious types of cancer there is still a decent survivability rate for those who discovered their condition quickly and acted upon it. Treating the cancer means that someone is fighting, not treating it means that the fight is already lost. Our bodies have an amazing capacity to recover if we help them, so if in doubt visit a doctor, the sooner the better.
Preventing Cancer
To prevent cancer from happening, we must first analyze what causes cancer in the first place. Avoiding carcinogen substances such as tobacco or alcohol might be start. Avoiding unprotected sun exposure is also crucial to avoid skin cancer. Harmful chemicals such as asbestos, some pesticides and smog have also been linked to cancer, so trying to avoid such factors can also prevent cancer. Another risk factor in cancer study has been found to be the genetic heritage. Here there isn’t much possible to do, except regular checks (at least once a year) and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The bottom line is that by reducing the exposure to carcinogen factors, the risk of developing cancer sharply decreases. There are also hints that diet may play a role in cancer prevention, so a balanced and healthy menu can be helpful.
Cancer Archive’s Mission?
This web site is dedicated to anyone who would like to find out more about cancer. Did you know approximately one third of the people you and I know will probably die of some form of cancer? Yes, it is that serious and I sincerely hope we do find a cure for cancer soon.
As previously said cancer is much more easily fought if identified and acted upon as early as possible. This is where cancer archive comes in. I took painstakingly care to cover as much of the relevant symptoms as cancer as possible for each case. If you suspect that you or somebody you know has a form of cancer don’t hesitate to go forward for a check. Keep in mind however that cases vary and that you should never rely on an internet source alone to make a decision. Use the indications and hints we give you here only as a pointer and always try when searching the web to get more opinions. Of course nothing can replace the expertise of a qualified doctor with a first hand look at your situation. What I am offering are only the starting points, some very solid ones indeed but still only that. The advice I give you here comes as an effort to better inform you about the various types of cancers you are interested and should never replace the advice of a qualified professional.
I am doing some research on natural and alternative treatments for cancer and I will add that to this web site soon. I am sick and tired of seeing friends and relatives pass away after long and expensive cancer treatments like radiation therapy and chemotherapy. There has to be a better way to rid our bodies of cancer.
In the meantime I do have some general information about the various cancer types. Stay tuned for more site updates by subscribing to my RSS feed directly or via email updates.
